INDIANAPOLIS, July 14 — Fifty-eight days after starting the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage in New Haven, Connecticut, the Seton Route pilgrims finally reached Indianapolis, where on Tuesday they will converge with the other three Routes and on Wednesday begin the National Eucharistic Congress.
Their day began with Mass at St. Michael's Church in Greenfield. The pastor of the parish, Father Aaron Jenkins, celebrated the Mass for the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time and preached. He spoke about prophetic dimension of Christian life, something he said is very fitting in welcoming the pilgrims of the Seton Route since the PIlgrimage is a prophetic act attesting to God's real presence in the world.
After Mass, there was a Eucharistic Procession in the neighborhood around the parish. Seton Chaplain Father Roger Landry and Father Jenkins carried the Blessed Sacrament in a pilgrimage that included about 200 people. At the end of the Pilgrimage, Father Jenkins gave Benediction in St. Michael's.
After the procession, Seton Pilgrims spent a few hours doing interviews for an upcoming book project on their experiences and with an EWTN film crew.
During the afternoon the pilgrims returned with the Eucharistic Lord to Our Lady of the Apostles Retreat Center where they had lunch and then a three hour wrap-up session communicating their appreciation for the other members of their team.
They then traveled with Jesus to Holy Spirit parish in Indianapolis, where they were treated to dinner, then prayed Vespers, gave witness testimonies before a crowded Church and had a Eucharistic Holy Hour.
During the witness testimonies, in which the four sisters of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Healing Love also participated, it was noted that Sr. Mary Fatima Pham was celebrating her 30th birthday and the parish had musicians come out to sing her "Happy Birthday!" She had been praised by pilgrim Dominic Carstens in his testimony for the zeal with which she runs to encounter people on the side of the road during the processions, let them know that Jesus is passing by and inviting them to join them. [In honor of her birthday, we give her the cover photo of today's edition!]
Tomorrow they will have Mass at Holy Spirit before a Eucharistic procession to St. Philip Neri Parish, where there will be Eucharistic adoration throughout the afternoon and a Holy Hour at night. On Tuesday from St. Philip Neri Parish they will have a Eucharistic procession to St. John the Evangelist Parish, where they will meet with pilgrims from the other three routes and have a Mass together celebrated by Bishop Andrew Cozzens.
